WhatsApp Business isn't the same as the Official API, and the difference matters

Brazilian patients already expect to reach their clinic on WhatsApp. The question isn't whether the channel should exist, it's how it's structured behind the scenes.

Many clinics still run WhatsApp Business straight from someone's personal phone. That works up to a point, but it creates dependency on a single person, no centralized history, no simultaneous multi-agent support, and a real risk: losing the number means losing the conversation history with every patient.

The Official WhatsApp API solves this structurally: multiple agents on the same number, integration with the practice management system, and clearer compliance with data protection law for the health data exchanged through the channel.

The most common mistakes at clinics without this structure repeat themselves: a personal number used for operations, no record of patient consent for contact, and no audit trail of who answered what.

Migrating to the Official API isn't about volume, it's about the clinic not depending on one person and one device to keep its most-used channel running.
